Spicy Sauce (anything you like that also comes in a jar)
I've grown up with this dish and credit it heavily with building my tolerance of spicy food. This Shanghainese dish is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Eat it with steamed white rice or white rice porridge for a kick in the morning!
Heat some neutral oil in a large pan on medium-high. Fry ginger in oil until fragrant.
Put in diced picked daikon and saute until fragrant.
Put in diced extra firm tofu and fry until most of the moisture has left the tofu.
Put in finely chopped red peppers and jalapeños, taking care to remove all the seeds from the center.
Scoop in desired amount of hot sauce. Follow with soy sauce. There's no salt in this recipe, so you can go a little crazy with the soy sauce.
Top it off with finely chopped garlic leeks until fragrant. Remove from heat and plate.
